WMATA Board Approves Joint Development Agreement

The Washington Metro Area Transit Authority(WMATA) Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve the sale of the property adjacent to the Takoma Station parking lot for transit-oriented development. Today’s vote secures our agreement with WMATA to build a vibrant residential community that will  help foster a safer, more pedestrian-friendly environment that current and future residents will enjoy.

Thank you to the many community members who sent letters, emails and even attended the Board meeting to express support in person. Your voices played a important part in today’s decision.

We’re excited to begin the next phase of this process and will continue to reach out to community members in Takoma and Takoma Park as we move ahead. Your ideas and suggestions are important to us as we move through the process and refine our plans.
