Coalition for Smarter Growth Highlights Walkable Living

In our most recent post we were amazed to learn that nearly 40% of D.C. households are car-free.

But it’s not surprising that a growing number of people throughout the D.C. region choose to live, work and play in communities where having a car is not a necessity.  The Coalition for Smarter Growth and Arlington County Commuter Services collected a series of first-hand stories from residents across the Washington Metro region to show how our area’s transportation needs are changing.  Access to Metro, Bikeshare, and innovative services like ZipCar or Car2Go have changed how we think about getting around. Likewise, people are adjusting where and how they get around in order to ive a car-free or car-lite lifestyle.

Check out the stories – including few from Takoma residents – at the Coalition for Smarter Growth.
